I live at high altitude and my driving ranges from 4,000 to 9,000 ft. above sea level. The thin air here reguires a learner fuel mixture for the right ratio. My white spacer has not been removed and the cycle runs great as it is.
Something strange though, is that it did backfire when new, but seemed to have partialy cured this problem, with age!
Also this cycle is rare, in the fact that the exhaust pipe, is as silver as new. I have really worked it hard at times too and still no discoloring. I guess I am just lucky to have a good set-up.
After a 1100 mile round trip I noticed a small amount of oil leaked out and wet on the front fins. I was runing #50 oil and had put a little too much in the engine. Since then I have switched to #10-40 Mobile Synthetic Motorcycle Oil ($8 pr. qt. at "Auto Zone"). I watch that the oil level is not above the top mark and I do not have any more leaks.
The clutch slipped a little on fast shifting, full throttle, with the #50 oil. With the #10-40 Mobil Synthetic Motorcycle Oil the clutch works perfect!
